Charging your electric car at home is cheaper and far more convenient than relying on public chargers, and grant support makes it more affordable than many people realise. Here's what you need to know.
The SEAI home charger grant
The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) offers a grant of up to €300 towards the purchase and installation of a home EV charge point for eligible properties. The grant helps offset the cost of going electric at home.
Who is eligible?
Eligibility criteria can change over time, but typically the grant is open to homeowners with off-street parking who have not previously claimed it for the property. It's always worth checking the latest details on the SEAI website before you commit.
What does an installation involve?
- A check of your existing fuse board and electrical supply
- A dedicated, RCD-protected circuit for the charger
- Neat cable routing inside and outside the property
- Installation of a quality 7kW home charge point
- Full testing, certification and a hand-over walkthrough
Do I need to upgrade my fuse board?
Many homes are ready for a charger as-is, but some older boards need upgrading first to safely handle the sustained load. We check this during the survey and include it in your quote if needed.
Getting started
We install home EV chargers across Dublin and can talk you through the grant, recommend a suitable unit, and give you a clear price. Get in touch for a free quote.
